First Glimpse: Camouflaged, Yet Promising

Recently, Skoda unveiled the first photos of the Elroq in camouflage, cruising through public roads. Despite the disguise, it’s evident that the Elroq is poised to set new standards in the electric SUV segment. Built on the MEB platform, shared with its sibling the Enyaq, the Elroq promises a harmonious blend of power, efficiency, and style.

Powertrains and Performance

The Skoda Elroq will be available in four distinct powertrain options, catering to a wide range of driving preferences. The entry-level Elroq 50 features a rear axle electric motor delivering 170 hp (125 kW) with a 55 kWh battery (52 kWh net). The next in line, the Elroq 60, boasts 204 hp (150 kW) with a 63 kWh battery (59 kWh net). Both variants achieve a top speed of 160 km/h.

For those seeking more power, the Elroq 85 and 85x offer a robust performance with 286 hp (210 kW) and 299 hp (220 kW), respectively. Equipped with a larger 82 kWh battery (77 kWh net), these models reach a top speed of 180 km/h and offer a remarkable range of over 560 km on a full charge. The 85x variant also includes an additional motor on the front axle, providing all-wheel drive capabilities for enhanced traction and control.

Charging and Efficiency

Charging convenience is a key highlight of the Elroq. All models support both AC (11 kW) and DC fast charging. The Elroq 85 and 85x can fast charge at up to 175 kW, enabling a charge from 10 to 80 percent in just about 28 minutes. This rapid charging capability ensures that drivers spend less time plugged in and more time on the road.

Design and Practicality

Measuring approximately 4.5 meters in length, the Elroq is compact yet spacious, offering ample room for passengers and cargo. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 470 liters, expandable to 1,580 liters with the rear seats folded down. Practical storage solutions are integrated throughout the cabin, providing an additional 48 liters of storage space.

Aerodynamics play a crucial role in the Elroq’s efficiency, with a sleek, sloping roofline culminating in a roof spoiler. The design, complemented by aerodynamically optimized wheels ranging from 19” to 21”, results in an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.26.

Modern Solid Design: A New Aesthetic

The Elroq debuts Skoda’s Modern Solid design language in a production-ready electric vehicle. The front of the car features the Tech-Deck Face, a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic Skoda radiator grill. This design element, characterized by a flatter and wider profile with dark glass hiding the car’s sensors, was first introduced with the Vision 7S concept.

Inside, the Modern Solid design ethos continues with an emphasis on simplicity, spaciousness, and clean lines. The 5” digital cockpit and a 13” central console screen offer intuitive control and a clear overview. An optional head-up display with Augmented Reality visualization further enhances the driving experience.

Launch and Availability

The world premiere of the Skoda Elroq is scheduled for October, with orders opening in Denmark shortly thereafter. The Elroq is expected to hit the Danish market in the first quarter of 2025, marking the beginning of Skoda’s next chapter in electric mobility.

Conclusion

The Skoda Elroq represents a significant leap forward in the electric vehicle market, combining Skoda’s renowned practicality with modern technology and design. With its versatile powertrains, impressive range, and thoughtful design, the Elroq is set to become a popular choice for those seeking an efficient and stylish electric SUV. Stay tuned for its official unveiling and get ready to experience the future of driving with Skoda. @via Dosula.
